Golshifteh’s first breakout movie was Asghar Farhadi’s About Elly, which won Best Picture at the 2009 Tribeca Film Festival and a Silver Bear at the Berlin International Film Festival.  She was nominated for the Most Promising Actress Award for The Patience Stone at the 2014 Cesar Awards in France.  She has also starred opposite Adam Driver in Jim Jarmusch’s Paterson, and was the lead in Eva Husson’s acclaimed film about Yazidi fighters Girls of the Sun.

Golshifteh was born in Tehran and worked in Iran until 2008, when she was the first Iranian star to act in a major Hollywood movie, Ridley Scott’s thriller Body of Lies. She now lives in France.
